1 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
Pinch of salt
--FILLING:--
1 pkg. dates, chopped
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. oleo
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch salt
Cream sugar and shortening. Add
eggs, add flour, soda, salt and
vanilla. Mix well. Divide and roll
out flat. Spread with filling,
then roll. Cut each roll in half
to make 4. Set in refrigerator
overnight. Slice and bake 12
minutes in a 375 degree oven.
For filling: Cook until thick. Add
nuts and vanilla. Cool before
spreading on flattened dough.
