Question by jasminet: what type of cookies should I make for my wedding?
I am having a winter wonderland wedding and would like to have blue and white cookies for my candy station. But I’m not sure what kind of cookies would be good but I do not want sugar cookies please. Thanks for your help.

    Jasminet, what I saw was in a continental pastry shop. They were in the shape of doves. and dusted in white fine sugar. They were called pasti di mandola. They would be right up your Street for your event. Not knowing where you are and if you have one of those Italian cake shops, those I would buy, the assorted cookies are about $ 6.50 per pound. Yes I know you said you want to make your own, but these are different and at least worth a look at.

    Both are way more classier and prettier than the average chocolate chip. Macarons come in many colors and flavors including blue and white.Mexican Wedding Cookies also known as Russian Tea Cakes are white.

    Try these cookies. You could use blue, white and silver sprinkles on the top of them (instead of the suggested sprinkle items listed below). Maybe you could even do a very light dusting of powdered sugar. The link at the bottom includes a photo of what the cookie would look like if you used a large, star-shaped tip in the pastry bag.

    Delicious Italian Cookies
    Prep: 10 minutes
    Cook: 10 minutes

    165 g butter (1.5 sticks)
    165 g flour (1.5 cups)
    100 g cornstarch (7/8 c but I’m not sure on this)
    90 g powdered sugar (3/4 c)
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest

    To sprinkle: (substitute blue, white and silver sprinkles and dusting of powdered sugar)
    cocoa powder
    chocolate chips
    brown sugar

    1. Whisk butter and sugar than add the egg, flour and corn starch sifted, vanilla and lemon zest.
    2. Put in a pastry bag, than make several shape on a non stick baking mat.
    3. Sprinkle with sugar, cocoa and chocolate chips.
    4. Cook for 10-12 minutes.
    5. Oven 180°C/350°F.
