1 lb. margarine
1 c. sugar
3 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 1/2 c. crushed plain potato chips
2/3 c. chopped nuts

Cream margarine and sugar well. Add vanilla, then flour. Mix in nuts. Fold in crushed chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar after baking.

Recipe: Applesauce Cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup applesauce
1 egg — well-beaten
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Stir together flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir baking soda into applesauce; add egg. Combine with the butter and sugar mixture.

Gradually mix in flour mixture. Stir in nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 or 3 inches apart onto a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes.

1 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
Pinch of salt

–FILLING:–
1 pkg. dates, chopped
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. oleo
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch salt

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, add flour, soda, salt and vanilla. Mix well. Divide and roll out flat. Spread with filling, then roll. Cut each roll in half to make 4. Set in refrigerator overnight. Slice and bake 12 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

For filling: Cook until thick. Add nuts and vanilla. Cool before spreading on flattened dough.

Recipe: Becky’s Ribbon Cookies

2 cups butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup candied cherries, chopped
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup poppy seeds
1/3 cup pecans
food coloring, green or red

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter or margarine and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Divide dough into 3 parts.

To one part add the cherries and mix well.

To the second part add the chocolate and pecans.

To the third part add the poppy seeds.

Add green or red food coloring to one or both of the white dough parts. Take one part and pat into a long flat rectangle, about 12 to 18 inches long and about 2 to 3 inches wide. Pat another part across the top of the first and the third part on top of that. Roll all in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight.

Cut in 1/8 inch slices and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

1/2 cup margarine (1 stick)
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1-1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1-1/2 cups peeled chopped apples
1/4 cup chopped pecans

In a large mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy; stir in egg and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well.

Slowly add dry ingredients to margarine mixture; mix well. Stir in cheese, apples and pecans. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

Makes 4 and 1/2 dozen.

1-1/3 C. water
1 C. crunchy peanut butter

Mix ingredients well. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
