Question by : I need a good icing recipe that uses powdered sugar and hardens after decorating the cookies.?
I’m making turkey cutout cookies for Thanksgiving and they’re gonna be packaged and stacked so the icing needs to be the kind that gets hard. I don’t want to use maurienge (sp) powder – I want to use powdered sugar. I’d really appreciate the help – Thanks!

Question by philasophos01: Can you buy the kind of cookie frosting that hardens at grocery stores?
I want to make holiday cookies & decorate them but don’t know how to get the designs not to be all goopy, and make them so I can actually transfer them without them becoming indiscriminate blobs. Any suggestions please?

Not sure what you have in mind, but the simplest cookie icing is powdered sugar moistened and colored. This gets hard quickly, so you have to be rapid at making your design.

smear the base color on the cookie, pipe with smallest tip, the designs you want on the cookie. Don’t get any of this too thick on the cookie. Don’t get the icing too thin or too thick. It will take a bit of practice to get it the way you can work with.
