Q&A: Is it ok to give a recovering anorexic a gift basket that has food in it?

Question by Mars: Is it ok to give a recovering anorexic a gift basket that has food in it?
I have a friend that was recently put into the hospital because of anorexia. These past few months she dropped weight so much that she got below 90 pounds. I love her to tears and I know anorexia can be cause by a number of things but as far as I’m aware hers is mostly centered around low self-esteem. (I know this from my observations of the way she talks about herself). So since she’s been sent to the hospital to get better I want to make her a gift basket for when she gets back. I was planning to put some nail polish, make-up, a spa treatment pack and some candy in there. But I have another friend who has dealt with anorexic family members who thinks putting food and make-up in the basket would be a bad idea. Would it? I don’t want to inadvertently hurt her feelings by getting her something that (in a anorexics mind) would say ‘here! get fat and you’re ugly’ and cause her to relapse. I just want to get her those things because I know she likes them, and I think she would enjoy them after getting back from the hospital. I might even throw her a little reunion party if I can figure everything out in time.
But my big question is,
would my friend relapse into unhealthy self destructive habits because of some make-up (which she and I both enjoy) and maybe a packet or two of candy? If so, what would be some alternative gifts I could get her instead?

I think that it would be worth avoiding all together and skip the food idea.

What kind of gift could I give to someone who loves to make German food?

Question by Brianna: What kind of gift could I give to someone who loves to make German food?
I’ve thought of a cookbook, but I’m wondering if there is a particular cooking utensil or cookware that is useful for cooking German food? Or perhaps there is a great recipe for something to put in a jar?

Is there any local place that does gift baskets that will deliver to East Rutherford, New Jersey?

Question by bbalangel00: Is there any local place that does gift baskets that will deliver to East Rutherford, New Jersey?
My friend is staying there and it’s her birthday so I want to send something to her hotel room. I don’t really want to send flowers since she will only be there for a few days. I really want to do a gift basket or cookies or something cute and thoughtful but not necessarily super expensive. I checked out 1800flowers and they have a few things, I was just wondering if there was a local place that I don’t know about.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Q&A: What are some good ideas for a gift basket?

Question by Brad: What are some good ideas for a gift basket?
I’m about to be a foreign exchange student and I would really love to thank the person who made that possible with a gift basket of assorted baked goods. I had the idea of some mini banana breads, some cookies and maybe some individually wrapped brownies. Does anyone have any other suggestions that I can put in it? I’d really like to make it special and home-made. Thanks!

Try to add items that will not spoil quickly. I like the items you picked, but would add or substitute some cookies, good chocolates and specialty teas and/or coffee,

What is a good homemade project I can do as a gift for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day?

Question by ~♥Kawaii Kitten♥~: What is a good homemade project I can do as a gift for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day?
I want to make my boyfriend something Valentine’s Day. Something that is small, because he does”t have a lot of room for stuff. Here are a few things he likes to help you guys. He loves music like Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin. He likes to read Science fiction stories like Childhood’s End. His favorite movie is the Gladiator. He likes Philosophy, and is Catholic.

Thank you!

Why not stick with something simple like cookies, cupcakes or fudge. Boxed mixes are available for any of these and spending the time to make a gift should please him and show him that you care. That old thing about the way to a man’s heart being thru his stomach has a real basis in fact, you know?

Been thinking about this and you could make a sheet cake, chocolate frosting and use frosting gels to mimic the cover of that iconic Pink Floyd album. That would blow his little mind and feed his tummy too.
