Q&A: Will peanut butter cookies work without shortening?

Question by aarwady922: Will peanut butter cookies work without shortening?
I hate working with shortening and I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for peanut butter cookies without the shortening. Or if you know of a substitute. =)

Applesauce is s good healthy substitute. The unsweetened kind.

    1/3 cup penut butter
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    and 1 egg

    not sure if thats the EXACT recipe but try it.. they are SOOO good.. you can double check that recipe by searching for paula dean’s magical penut butter cookies

    I would just use butter. Much richer flavor and does the same job. I have heard you can substitute applesauce too in some baking, not sure what it would do to peanut butter cookies though.

    I don’t put anymore fat in my PB cookies than the PB and egg.
    Actually it is:
    1 C PB
    1 Egg
    1 C Sugar
    Bake at 350 until golden about 15 minutes WONDERFUL~ Beware they don’t last long.

    this is the best pb recipe ever! 2 cups pb 2cups brown sugar (white if you prefer, i use brown) 2 eggs 2teaspoons vanilla extract mix very well bake 350 about 8 minutes,(chewy),10 or so crisp. THATS IT!!!,use your imagination add,nuts, mini chips, mini chip&rasins ect……….good luck.
