i heard they were from either spain or mexico, and what else info is there about them… i believe they might also be called Mexican wedding cookies

Mexican Wedding Cakes aka Polvorones
Ingredients: for 3 dozen cookies
2 cups white flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar + more for rolling cookies in later
1 cup softened butter – but not melted
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract
1 cup finely chopped almonds or walnuts or pecans

Method:
Mix the flour and the 1/2 cup powdered sugar. Add the butter and extracts and salt and mix well. Add the chopped nuts. Knead ingredients so that they are well combined and homogeneous. Form into walnut sized balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart – they will not spread. Bake at 325ºF for 12 – 18 minutes, until barely golden on the bottom. After the first 12 minutes rotate the pan in the oven. Roll in more powdered sugar while still warm – use a fork and a bowl to do this. Let cool on a plate. These are wonderful with a cup of Mexican hot chocolate or coffee. If you need to or want to you can make them with 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon in them too. I don’t as I like the almond flavour.
