Question by Bonnie B: What can I substitute for brown sugar in my peanut butter cookie recipe?
I am about to make peanut butter cookies, and after a trip to the store to get what i need, I discovered I have no brown sugar. Can I use white sugar or will they taste like crap? lol thanks for any help, really dont want to make another trip this late .

Cane sugar with a little molasses added to it.

That’s what brown sugar is. Dark brown sugar has more molasses added to it than light brown sugar.

    Most of the time white sugar can be substituted for brown sugar. Try it and see. I love to experiment with cookie recipies and add ingredients. I combined my chocolate chip and peanut butter recipes and now make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

    I did this with regular sugar and it was very good! It tastes more like peanut butter flavored sugar cookies.
