Mocha Chewies (No bake chocolate and Oreo cookie squares)

I took a YouTube video break after the Christmas season but I am back :) These would be fun if you tried different kinds of cookies and chocolate. These are very sweet, so cut the pieces small. Bottom layer: 1/2 cup evaporated milk 1 tbsp instant coffee granules (I used espresso powder) Yes you can leave this out if you want. You can add some vanilla (1-2 tsp) instead or another kind of extract. 1 cup chocolate pieces 1 cup marshmallow creme About 15 oz of sandwich cookies like Oreos (about 30 of them) 1 cup powdered sugar ( I bet you could leave this out an they would still taste great) 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Topping: 1 cup chocolate pieces 1/3 cup whipping cream Grease an 8×8″ or 9x9x2″ or 9×11″ pan (smaller the pan, thicker the dessert) Using a food processor or other method, crush up the cookies into fine crumbs and set aside in large bowl. In a medium saucepan combine the milk and coffee and stir over low heat until coffee has dissolved. Add the chocolate chips and the marshmallow cream. Stir over low heat until smooth and melted together. Pour coffee/milk/chocolate mixture over the cookie crumbs and stir until combined. Stir in nuts if desired. Spoon mixture into prepared pan and spread out evenly. Place the topping ingredients into a small bowl (chocolate chips and cream) and microwave on high for about 1-2 minutes until cream starts to simmer. Remove and stir until smooth. Pour over bottom layer and smooth out. Refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours. Cut

Is there a substitute for evaporated milk

  14. minns2008 says:

If you want to make MOCHA chewies, then, yes you have to use coffee. If you don’t want to use the coffee they will just be chocolate chewies.

  16. KosongIce says:

Just checking, why powdered sugar since everything is already quite sweet? Is it to thicken up the mixture? Would flour or something else be helpful as well? Thanks!

  19. Ashley aranda says:

can you use milk chocolate? instead of dark?

  20. tomboy123 says:

@dracarysdracarys you can use any chocolate that’s not sweet. Like unsweetened, dark or bittersweet. The sweetness depends on the type of chocolate you use.

  21. tomboy123 says:

@Blythe Pearson use vanilla. It’s in the description box. :D
