Question by djjoecruz: I need a recipe to bake the best”Snickerdoodle Cookies” ever!!!!?
I love those cookies and can find good ones at specialty cookie shops. Not at the “Grocery ” store. Anyone got a good, easy recipe? I never baked home made cookies before but hey, there’s always a first time…please be specific…thank you….. ;)

    2 each Eggs
    2 3/4 cups Flour
    2 teaspoons Cream of tartar
    1 teaspoon Baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon Salt

    preheat oven to 375. Mix 1 1/2 c. sugar, shortening and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, and soda. Chill dough. Roll dough into balls the size of walnuts. Com- bine 2 t. sugar and cinnamon. Roll cookies in this mixture.
    Bake for 8-10 mins., cool completely on wire racks.

    Dough:

    ½ cup each butter and shortening (or marg), at room temperature
    1 ½ cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1 ½ teaspoons cream of tartar
    1 teaspoon baking soda

    Beat butter, shortening, sugar and eggs together until creamy. Add cream of tartar, baking soda and salt, then blend. Add flour and mix well. Chilling overnight is preferred; otherwise at least two hours

    Topping:

    3 tablespoons sugar
    1 tablespoon cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 375°F.
    Combine topping ingredients in small, shallow bowl. After chilling, shape dough into balls about 1 ½ inches in diameter. Drop dough balls into topping mixture and coat entire surface well. Place on ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.

    Bake in a 375°F degree oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand one minute and remove to cooling racks.

    Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

    INGREDIENTS
    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 1/2 cups white sugar

    1/2 cup margarine, softened
    1 cup white sugar
    3 tablespoons real maple syrup
    1 egg
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/4 cup maple sugar
    DIRECTIONS
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Set aside.
    In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and 1 cup of white sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and maple syrup. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just mixed. In a small dish, mix together the remaining 1/2 cup white sugar and the maple sugar. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, and roll the balls in the sugar mixture. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies will be crackly on top and look wet in the middle. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, cream of tartar, and sugar. Stir with a whisk, then place into a one quart canning jar.
    Attach a tag with the following recipe to the jar: Snickerdoodles 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup of butter and 2 eggs. Pour in the snickerdoodle mix, and stir until a dough forms. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls, roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. 3. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies should be light brown. Cool on wire racks
