How to Make Chewy Chocolate Cookies with Betty Crocker

Julie Van Rosendaal of dinnerwithjulie.com shares her healthy chocolate cookie recipe that contains only 2 grams of fat. “How-To” demo performed by Kristen Olson of the Betty Crocker Kitchens. Recipe link: im0.co INGREDIENTS: 1 1/3 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup Dutch process cocoa 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup butter, softened 3 large egg whites 2 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 cup powdered or icing sugar DIRECTIONS: Step 1 – Heat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheets with nonstick cooking spray or line with parchment paper. In a large bowl of a food processor or a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, brown sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt, breaking up any lumps of brown sugar. Add the butter and pulse or stir with a fork, pastry cutter or whisk until the mixture is well combined and crumbly. If using food processor, spoon flour mixture into large bowl. Step 2 – Add eggs and vanilla; stir by hand just until the dough comes together. The dough will be fairly dry and it will seem at first that there is not enough moisture, but if you keep stirring or use your fingers, eventually the dough will come together. Step 3 – Place the 1/4 cup powdered sugar into a shallow dish. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar to coat. Place them about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, until just set around the edges but still soft in the middle. Let set 1 to 2 minutes on cookie

  2. BettyCrockerTV says:

  3. lyssa babe says:

It doesn’t even tell us how much u need

  4. Haruta86 says:

Butter is not included in the recipe though it was mentioned in the procedure and was shown at the video. May I know the exact measurement needed for the butter? Thanks.

  5. lizzieamazin says:

    wat r the exact measurements?

  6. BettyCrockerTV says:

Hi deeabyank! We do not recommend using instant cocoa as it has added sugar, which may affect the texture of the cookies as well as result in less of a chocolatey flavor since the sugar will take the place of some of the cocoa that would normally be used. We hope this helps!

  7. BettyCrockerTV says:

Experimenting is always welcome! If you choose not to roll it in sugar, let us know how it turns out. :)

  8. deeabyank says:

  29. spicywickedme says:

usually chewy cookies use brown sugar in the recipe rather than white. perhaps you can try that?

  30. pastryparrot1 says:

These are not super sweet. They are just right. I think they would be chewier if you took them out of the oven a little earlier. That should work. Thanks again!

  31. Grandmasterskinny says:

Awww man, I was hoping you would say yes!! So, what would I have to do to make them chewy?–should I take them out of the oven when they look half way done? Also, Are they very sweet? What is the sugar level like? Cinnamon toast crunch sweet? Fruit Loops sweet? or erm, Honey bunches of oats sweet? What can i compare them to? Oh yeah, maybe i can add less baking powder/soda…what do you think?
    Thanks,

  32. pastryparrot1 says:
