im having trouble making chocolate chip cookies…how do i do that..????please help..its important..

    2 1/4 – 2 1/3 cups flour
    1 Tsp. salt
    1 Tsp. baking soda
    1 Cup shortening or 1 Cup (2 sticks) butter
    1/2 – 3/4 Cup packed brown sugar (total sugar should equal 1.5 cups)
    3/4 – 1 Cup white sugar (total sugar should equal 1.5 cups)
    1 – 2 Tsp. pure vanilla
    2 eggs
    1 1/2 – 3 Cups chocolate chips
    1 Cup chopped walnuts (optional)
    StepsPreheat your oven to 350ºF.
    In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Gently mix these together and then set this bowl aside.
    In a large bowl, beat together shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, and pure vanilla. When those are completely mixed together, add eggs and mix again until completely combined.
    Slowly add the dry ingredients from the medium bowl to the wet ingredients in the large bowl, mixing until the dry ingredients are totally combined. At this point you should have a moderately thick cookie dough.
    Add chocolate chips, and if you want you can also add chopped walnuts. Mix together.
    Scoop up a golf ball size amount of dough with a spoon and drop in onto a cookie sheet. Leave at least an inch of space between the cookies because they’ll spread out when they cook. You can usually fit 12 cookies on a cookie sheet at a time.
    Put the cookies in the oven and bake for about 8-10 minutes. You’ll want to check them after 8 minutes, but if they look doughy, you’ll want to cook them for another couple of minutes. After 10 minutes, remove the pan from the oven and let the cookies sit on the pan for 3-5 minutes.
    Using a spatula, lift cookies off onto wax paper or tin foil. Let cool for about 5 more minutes.
    Eat and enjoy!!

    TipsIf you want crispy cookies, bake them a few minutes longer.
    Do not grease the cookie pan prior to baking.
    Makes about 30 cookies.
    Spray the pan lightly with nonstick cooking spray (Pam is a well known brand).
    Use parchment paper or silipat sheets to prevent sticking.

    WarningsDon’t bake too long or they will burn!

    Collect all your ingredients and have butter or margarine cube at room temperature. Take time to review the recipe.

    Preheat your oven. Make sure an oven rack sits in the middle slot. (To control the results, bake one tray at a time)

    Make cookies according to package instructions or use your best recipe.

    Use either an ice cream scoop or two teaspoons (one to scoop & other to push dough off 1st spoon) to scoop each lump of cookie dough. Place it on your cookie sheet with space between each cookie allowing the cookie to spread a little. I use big jelly roll trays and can put three cookies in a row with total of 12 cookies each tray. But it is up to the size of your cookie and the size of you baking sheet how many you can place on a tray. After you have all the lumps on the sheet, put your hand in a rubber glove, sandwich baggie or a clean plastic vegetable bag. Flatten each dough lump a little so that the shape and thickness of each cookie is about the same (for even baking).

    Check the total time required on your recipe. Divide that time in half. (My recipe calls for 12 minutes at 375 degrees and I will use it to illustrate) Stick the loaded cookie tray on the oven’s middle rack and set your timer for 6 minutes. After 6 minutes, turn your tray so the cookies in front becomes the cookies at the back of the oven. Set the timer for another 6 minutes. Don’t overcook. When time is up, remove the tray and put the tray aside (don’t disturb cookies on tray). Allow the cookies to set for about 15 min. or so. Then put a spatula under each cookie and transfer to another container to completely cool.

    After the cookies are cooled, I slip each cookie into one of those cheap sandwich bags and put them all in Tupperware or Rubbermaid containers. That way, when someone reaches in they don’t touch other cookies.

    I just made these – DELICIOUS!

    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1/4 cup white sugar
    1/3 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour and baking soda, stir into the creamed mixture. Add chocolate chips. Drop by rounded ice cream scoops onto a cookie sheet, and press down slightly to flatten. Cookies should be about 2 inches apart.
    Bake for 11 to 14 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
