Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

Follow my Boards on Pinterest! 1 cup butter, softened 1 cup white sugar 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon 3 cups quick cooking oats raisins, chocolate chips or nuts (optional) 1. In a medium bowl, cream together white sugar, butter, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. 2. Combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda,oats,and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture. If you are using nuts or raisins, mix into dough, combining well. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour. 3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Roll the dough into balls, and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Music by Jason Shaw

    hey diana, i love your recipes and videos and stuff, but i have a question about this recipe.
    did you keep mixing it a lot even after the raw dough disappeared (you cant see the white)? the reason why i’m asking is because if you over mix the dough, it could become tough because the gluten developed

    please tell me, i dont have any electric mixer, im used to doing things by hand, would i be able to do this by hand, im pretty strong so i could handle it;) but would it not come together?xx

    My friend who worked in a bakery told me that they would make the cookie balls and place them close together on a cookie sheet .. then put in the freezer. If you have more dough, put the balls on a cookie sheet in the fridge to trade out later. I left mine for about 2 hours so they are pretty well frozen.  They never go flat when they are baked. They stay poofy like in the bakery. Before baking put on sheet spaced about 2″ apart as usual. Hope you don’t mind this extra tip, Diana!!

    shouldnt be bitter are u sure u used sugar and not salt or something? all that sugar means its sweat made same thing without oats came alright gonna try this soon
