What is the name of the Italian cookies that are really crispy and chocolate?

Question by : What is the name of the Italian cookies that are really crispy and chocolate?
They are round cookies and I have seen them in Italian cookie platters. I have seen them in chocolate and vanilla.
It is not biscotti, these cookies are very thin and crispy and round.

Question by just me: Italian Cookies???
Okay so you know how when you go into a bakery they have all those different colored italian cookies? what are those called? I’ve always only known them as italian cookies…but I’m trying to find a recipe for them. Help please!

If you mean the rainbow cookies – three different colored layers with a little jam and chocolate icing – they are called “Venetians” – you can find a recipe at recipes. com

Italian S Cookies

1 cup vegetable shortening, 1 cup granulated sugar, 4 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, 1 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla, 4 cups flour, 2 Tablespoon Baking Powder. Cream shortening sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients till mixed well. Roll a piece of dough about 2 1/2 inches long 1/2 inch in thickness form a letter S with dough on ungreased cookie sheet, Bake at 350 for 10- 12 minutes.Cool cookies on rack. Mix 2 cups powder sugar, 2 1/2- or 3 Tablespoons of water or milk to thickness you want for icing. Dip cookie into icing place on rack till dry.Yields 60 cookies Cookie size baked is 3 1/4 long.

Does anyone know the name of the Italian cookies that are little balls that you stack on top of each other and then drizzle honey over and add sprinkles?

ITALIAN COOKIES

**you can drizzle honey before you sprinkle**

INGREDIENTS
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, softened
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets.
Cream the butter. Add in the eggs, sugar, and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, stir the flour and baking powder together.
Add flour mixture to butter mixture. NOTE: If batter is too dry, add a bit of milk.
Use hands to shape pieces of dough into loop-shaped cookies.
Place on cookie sheets and bake 8 to 10 minutes.
Cool and frost.

ITALIAN COOKIES 2

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup butter
1/3 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
DIRECTIONS
Cream margarine or butter and sugar thoroughly; add eggs, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Combine flour and baking powder and gradually add to creamed mixture.
Knead dough on lightly floured board for about 5 minutes. Using tablespoonfuls of dough, roll in 6-inch lengths; press ends together to form rings. Let stand on ungreased cookie sheets at room temperature for 15 minutes.
Bake 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 15-17 minutes or until lightly golden.
To Make Icing: Combine 2 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar with enough orange juice to make a thin glaze. Dip each hot cookie into glaze; cool on racks. Decorate with confetti sprinkles, if desired.

Recipe: Italian Christmas Wine Cookies

1 3 c. Mazola oil
1 1/2 c. red wine
1 1/2 c. white wine
Pinch of cinnamon

Boil above together for 1 minute. Sift 8 cups of flour into large bowl. Add: 1 tbsp. honey 3 tsp. salt 2 beaten eggs Mix well, slowly add the hot mixture; knead until very stiff; if dough is still too soft and sticky, add more flour. Pinch off golf ball size pieces of dough and roll over a grooved board or ravioli board. Fry in deep hot oil. After all the dough is cooked, dip in hot honey, adding a little water to honey as each batch is cooked. Add more honey as needed.
