Betty’s Best-Ever Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her all-time favorite peanut butter cookies. Out of hundreds of recipes tested and adapted, this one is Number One! Ingredients: 1 cup creamy (smooth) peanut butter 1/2 stick butter 1/2 stick margarine 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 egg 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour Cream 1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 stick butter, 1/2 stick margarine, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar until smooth. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 egg. Beat well, until all ingredients are well-combined. Stir in 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour, until mixture turns into a ball shape. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. When ready to make cookies, roll small pieces into 1-inch balls and place them about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet. Use a fork to flatten each ball with a criss-cross pattern. Bake in an oven that has been preheated to 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven when done, and immediately place on a cooling rack or flat platter to maintain their shape while cooling. When cool place in a zip-lock plastic bag or sealed container for storage. These are the yummiest of cookies, and a great comfort food!

    i made pb cookies tonight, they turned out great! SO DELICIOUS!!! thank you betty! insteadof preheating the oven at 375 i mistakenly had it at 30 so i kept the cookies in for about 13 or 14 minutes! it was still delightful! mMm.

    betty, if you are trying to be healthy with the peanut butter, better use natural unsweetened peanut butter instead of reduced fat one, the reduced fat peanut butter has trans fats, lots of sugars and alot of the worst chemicals… natural peanut butter keeps you healthy. fat free is not always healthy… thank you :)

    If you make any changes at all in the ingredients, then your result may be different than what you saw in the video. I have made this recipe dozens of times, and it always comes out the same.

    You will be sacrificing on the taste a little bit, but the cookies will still be good, just not as sweet.

    I was always taught that when making cookies mix the liquids and dry ingredients separately before mixing them together. Makes more sense to me! Also, if you crack your eggs in a little bowl first it’s easier to remove the shell if you mess up!

    Dipping the fork in flour or sugar will also keep it from sticking. :-)

    hi, is it 3/4 tsp of baking soda?as u said in the video?or its 3/4 tsp of baking powder as what u wrote in description?just confuse which one ill follow, i really wanna try this=)thank anyway

    I just made these using butter since I don’t like margarine. I think anytime it says to use margarine in a recipe, you can use butter instead.

    Just made these since my mom loves peanut butter and she ate 3 of them, lol :) Another successful recipe :) In the description box, you forgot to include adding in the shortening and mixed up the baking powder and baking soda amounts ;)
