I’m looking for a sugar cookie recipe online,
This one says….

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup and 1 teaspoon butter, softened
1/3 cup and 1 tablespoon white sugar
1/4 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

This is supposed to make 12 servings
BUT we dont have any baking soda

Is there any thing we can use instead of Baking Soda?
Or do you have a better recipe I can use??

Never saw a recipe for 1/4 egg before, you sure that one is correct?
Try this one:

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

* 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
* 2 cups white sugar
* 4 eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 5 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

    These are best glazed and then sprinkled with colored sugar after they cool. The dough can also be used to make Thumbprint cookies. You will need a strong mixer – a KitchenAid helps, but you can always knead in the rest of the flour. The dough does not spread or distort – they can be baked fairly close together and can be shipped or transported without breaking.

    1 cup (2 sticks) butter (do NOT use oleo or spread)
    ½ cup sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 cups sifted all purpose flour
    ½ tsp baking powder

    Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy.
    Add egg and vanilla extract.
    Add flour and baking powder.
    Mix until mixture clings together.
    Gather into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate one hour.

    Roll out between ¼ and 1/2 inch thick. Bake 5 to 6 minutes at 375F. Do not let the cookies brown.

    Cool on wire rack before glazing or frosting.

    Glaze: With a fork, mash together 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon powdered sugar until a fine paste. Add a few drops of milk. Continue adding powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is achieved. Add 2 drops of almond (or vanilla) extract. Yield: about 1 cup.
