2 oz. chocolate
˝ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
˝ t soda
1-1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Melt
chocolate and butter together
(other shortening may be used),
cool slightly and add sugar,
slightly beaten egg, then the
flour and soda sifted together
alternately with the milk and
vanilla.
Drop by large spoonfuls on greased
pans and bake in a moderately hot
oven (375) for about 15 minutes.
These are big, soft cookies, like
the kind you find in the corner
bakery. They are best if frosted
on the bottom with any simple
frosting - confectioners’ sugar
with enough cream to make a smooth
spread plus a little vanilla is
good.
