I tried to use it in a pancake recipe, like regular flour and it did not turn out well at all !!! I wouldn’t recommend it. My daughter is allergic so I thought i would try it.

Q&A: is Xanthan gum necessary in cooking gluten free cookies?

Question by Brandon Jandu: is Xanthan gum necessary in cooking gluten free cookies?
I am baking gluten free cookies for a friend, and i am using gluten free flour, and i found a very good recipe that didn’t have any crazy ingredients that you might not always have in your house aside from Xanthan Gum. I have never heard of this, so if someone can explain what it does that would be very helpful. Thanks

How am I supposed to eat gluten free?

Question by Skye: How am I supposed to eat gluten free?
Ok so apparently I’m supposed to eat gluten free foods due to a condition. Like, that pretty much rules out most food lol. Seriously, if you look on the ingredients most food contains some amount of wheat. I know that they offer gluten free bread and stuff like that, but I live in a semi-rural area with no stores that sell that kind of food. Anyone else with the same problem?

I have gluten allergies and it’s actually easier than you’d think. If you have a Whole Foods nearby you’ll be all set. Just look for cookies or bread that is gluten free. Stop eating condensed soup. There are gluten free pastas such as corn, brown rice, quinoa (my personal favorite), you’re lucky if you only have gluten issues. I can’t have eggs, dairy, gluten or yeast. I wish I only had gluten issues! LOL!!!…..You have to read labels ALL the time, you’ll get used to it. And cooking only natural foods helps too, like meats, veggies, rice, potatoes.

Hope a little of this helped.
