It’s debated the true origins of the modern fortune cookie, but it really didn’t come from either China or Japan. It was originated in the US,in California, but I don’t think they are certain to exactly who invented it.It’s likely it could have been a Chinese-American or Japanese-American,but technically, the fortune cookie’s birthplace was in the US.

Question by Crystalryu: What is the best substitute for rice paper?
I’ve been wanting to begin a project recently, that is making a handmade Japanese lantern, but I’m having some difficulty in finding the rice paper needed to use and I’m not sure what the best substitute would be. (And preferably something that doesn’t burn easily, if thats’s even possible)
